Long Memorial School Philosophy
We believe ....
- every person is a unique being. We endeavor to develop each child emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially, according to his or her individual needs.
- that children should have a firm academic foundation which includes the learning of communication skills, computation skills, and critical thinking skills.
- that for children to become productive members of society, they should develop self-esteem, a sense of responsibility, leisure-time interests, and an appreciation of their own heritage.
- that children should grow to respect laws and government, and gain an understanding and respect of other people's cultures so that they will be able to deal effectively with human problems.
- that to motivate children to learn, they should be actively involved in creative expression and should have experiences relative to Fine Arts so that they may gain an appreciation of them.
- that to accomplish the foregoing, it is vital to maintain a cooperative spirit and an open communication between the home and the school.
